Why Velvet Has Become My Favorite Fall 2016 Trend

Fall 2016 Outfit Trends

There are so many new trends this season making it hard to keep up with them all. Basically it’s the 90’s all over again. Chokers, overalls, velvet, leggings, oversized sweaters, grunge and flannel are all back in style and that makes me perfectly happy.

However one new trend has quickly become my absolute favorite.

VELVET!!!!

I am in love with everything velvet and lucky for me velvet is in no short supply. You can find virtually anything made out of velvet from jackets, dresses, skirts, pants, handbags and even shoes. Just thinking about it makes me giddy with excitement.

Why am I so in love with velvet?

Here are my top four reasons for falling head over heels for the trend.

1. It’s super soft. Just one touch and you will realize what I am talking about. Even the more inexpensive velvet fabrics are super soft which of course makes it right up my alley.

2. It’s luxurious. Velvet can make any item look and feel like a luxury item even without the luxury price tag.

3. It looks soooo pretty. Velvet can come in a matte look or it can have a bit of a sheen to it. Either version is just as beautiful as the other.

4. It’s incredibly cozy. Velvet is a thicker fabric which helps provide extra warmth and when you factor in how soft it is you can really imagine just how cozy velvet can be.

The below look features my favorite velvet jacket. I purchased this jacket from ZARA at a pretty incredible price considering the quality of the item.

In order to make the jacket the true star in this outfit I paired it with a simple white t-shirt, Paige Denim jeans and black patent leather oxfords. To top it off I added a second fall trend with my black velvet choker from Forever21.
