An oversized cardigan is a staple in most fashion girl’s closets. They are so cozy and can look incredibly chic. But they can also be very tricky to style correctly. It is easy to look frumpy if you’re not careful. So what’s a trendy girl to do?

How To Wear An Oversized Cardigan
1. Choose a cardigan with the right fit for you. You don’t want your cardigan to be so big or long that you look like you’re drowning in it. You should also take into account the style of neckline. For example, crew neck cardigans and I do not get along they just look super awkward on me. So I opt for open cardigans or at least V-nick cardigans.
2. Wear more form fitting clothes underneath. If you wear an entire outfit made of oversized items you are going to look like a frumpy, shapeless blob. And no one wants to look like that. So I would suggest sticking to skinny or straight leg jeans and if you want to wear a skirt or dress you should probably stick to a pencil or body con style. For tops you can get away with a slightly looser style blouse but just remember to use your bottoms to define and emphasizes your gorgeous figure.

3. Balance your fabrics. If your cardigan is made of a super chunky knit you’ll want to wear thinner, lighter feeling clothing underneath. Too much “chunkyness” just adds bulk. Also if the cardigan is super thin then you’ll want to wear items that are a little more substantial. Like a structured button down shirt.
4. Don’t over accessorize. Wearing too many, too large, or too gaudy accessories can also cause your outfit to look frumpy. Instead opt for minimal accessories and a good structured bag.
